Jim Jansen and the Anchor Consulting Team

Jim Jansen is a coach and consultant who helps Catholic leaders transform their dioceses and parishes to make disciples. Jim knows first-hand the ups and downs of leading renewal at the parish and diocesan level. He is passionate about putting the new evangelization within reach of every diocese, parish, and individual missionary disciple.

Background

Jim Jansen’s faith journey started right in the heart of the Midwest, growing up a cradle Catholic in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1999, while at Benedictine College, a simple invitation from his roommate to join one of the very first FOCUS Bible studies changed everything.

As one of the first FOCUS missionaries, Jim led the movement at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to become one of the nation’s largest and most fruitful campus ministries. In his 18 years with FOCUS, Jim served as a team director and regional director, shaping the apostolate’s foundational years of growth.

Uncommon Results

Driven by a desire to bring these proven strategies to the wider Church, Jim returned home in 2017 to lead the Archdiocese of Omaha’s strategic efforts in evangelization. Under Jim’s leadership, the Parish Support Team synthesized ideas about evangelization and translated them into practical and sustainable tools. Jim and his team launched a one-of-a-kind evangelization formation program for lay disciples and also coached pastors and parish leaders in building discipleship pathways. During Jim’s time at the Archdiocese, parish evangelization efforts grew exponentially. Over 50% of parishes in the Archdiocese of Omaha developed a “conversion moment” ministry (e.g., Alpha, Rescue Project, etc.).  In similar fashion, the number of parishes with small group movements grew from 2 to 35 (65% of pastorates).

Practical Tools

Through years of walking with leaders, Jim witnessed firsthand how even parishes with outstanding missionary disciples often lack the structure and culture to really make disciples. He began to notice patterns and habits that set apart those parishes that successfully navigated these challenges. That difference is what Jim’s first book, A Clear Path: How to make missionary disciples in your parish, is all about. A clear path provides a framework for missionary disciples to work together to make and mature disciples.

Sensing a call to come alongside parish and diocesan leaders, Jim launched Anchor Consulting full-time in 2026. He is the host of The EquipCast (a weekly podcast), and a frequent presenter at diocesan gatherings and conferences. Jim and the Anchor Consulting team now serve dioceses and parishes across the country and around the world.

When he is not coaching Catholic leaders, Jim and his wife, Kim, are raising their six children back in Nebraska. Jim loves getting outside in his orchard and pretending to be a farmer.
